With an engineering and design career spanning more than a decade and projects ranging from micro-scale deformable optic component design to tool for Boeing aircraft, I can adapt my experience to a variety of situations. Below are just a few examples of the wide range of work I’ve done over the years.

Yes, form follows function… but sometimes they need to be twins

Beauty should be built into each design from the start, and an intrinsic part of each design. Elegance may seem old fashioned, but we can feel instinctively when a design is just “right”. Don’t settle for less than a great design.

Engineering fundamentals will save you thousands in prototype costs

Physics can be hard — unless you have a guide. With both solid fundamentals to approach design problems and advance computer simulation software that allows for virtual prototyping, I can predict and optimize the performance of a design before we ever reach the prototype stage, saving thousands of dollars in prototype building and testing.

Mechatronics = Mechanical Electronics

Stuck in between a lever and a Radio Shack? Tired of trying to be the mediator, going between your electrical and mechanical engineers? Try having just one! I can take your robotic concepts and bring them to life.

Sometimes It Is Easy Being Green

Want to go green but don’t know how? Sometimes it just takes the right approach to materials and design. Though my clients came to me with the idea for a new type of exercise mat, I worked with them to expand the marketing message and reduce the environmental impact of the design. Now what’s good for you is good for the planet, too.

New Take on an Old Idea: Adjustable-Weight Kettlebell

Sometimes a design needs a fresh look. Here I created a new design of kettlebell (a fitness tool) which can be used at weights from 25 lbs to 65 lbs using standard, readily-available weight plates. This is not a new concept in workout equipment, but is the first to have such a wide range of weight, and also the first to use standard weight plates. The product is in the process of being released to market.
